How to motivate yourself [and stay motivated] to achieve your goals

When we struggle to find motivation, it feels like everyone around us is always motivated…well, that's not always the case. Remember that most people only ever show the best moments of their life on the networks. Don't be deflated by their flashy images and the influencer who always looks 100%.

When you're lacking motivation, the best thing to do (instead of opening your Instagram) is to take a moment to refocus, but it's not always easy.

So I help you find the best way to motivate yourself to achieve your goals and STAY there.

1. Choose goals that interest you

When you set goals, you make the decision to act in a way that will help you achieve your desires. Your goals give you a direction, a path to follow. Setting yourself measurable goals can go a long way in keeping you motivated.

On the other hand, if the goal you set for yourself does not interest you, you are almost certain to lose your motivation at one time or another. It's only logical: you are much more likely to stay motivated to accomplish something that interests you and turns you on than a goal that bores you...

2. Track your progress

It’s so motivating to track your progress! If you see evidence of your advancement, you are much more likely to stay motivated for the long term. The best way to do this is to use a planner or you can get a visual representation of your progress.

Another great way to track your progress toward your goals is to break them down into small tasks. Start with the smallest tasks and work towards attacking the more massive tasks. Breaking down your tasks helps your mind see tasks as more achievable and this will build your confidence and eventually your motivation.

3. Give yourself rewards

Give yourself rewards! It is a method of motivation that is effective in the short term, but effective nonetheless. If you plan for small rewards when you reach your goals, you will have something waiting for you at the other end of the tunnel. It's motivating!

4. Find yourself a partner

Sometimes it's hard to stay motivated when you're alone working towards a goal. Find yourself a partner or even a community! Sign up for an online course, find yourself a teacher or a community with whom you can share your good and less good moves. This encourages you to continue to support him.

It will certainly be a catalyst for motivation and also a good tool to maintain this motivation in the long term.

5. Mindset positive

It's almost impossible to motivate yourself if you have a negative view of your goal. A positive attitude toward your goals can energize you and breathe new life into your goals.

So try to focus on the positive aspects of your situation. If you put your attention on the positive, most of the time things will go well for you!

6. Gratitude motivates

Be grateful! When you find yourself in a moment of demotivation, it can seem almost impossible to motivate yourself to accomplish our tasks. Well, then start by appreciating what you have already accomplished. Practice being grateful not only for your accomplishments, but also for yourself.

It's much easier to stay motivated when you honestly feel gratitude towards yourself.

In order to start practicing gratitude, I advise you to start small. Take a little time in your day when you are used to relaxing to think about all the things in your life that you are grateful for. Whether it's the comfort of your bed, your partner, your job or simply the fact that you have something to eat and drink!

7. Be kind to yourself

If you're like me, you tend to be hard on yourself when you make mistakes or even procrastinate. There are even things that you talk to yourself meanly and that has a big impact on your motivation.

If you catch yourself doing this, try to become aware of it and take a step back. Change your speech. Why talk to each other this way? Whatever you've done, you don't deserve it. Give yourself a more delicate tone, and simply resume your task.

You have the right to make mistakes and if you don't give yourself the chance to make them, you will never know how to avoid them! Making a mistake is an opportunity to learn and improve - not the other way around.

8. What if you didn't?

Sometimes, instead of focusing on how your life will be if you achieve your goal, what will it be like if you don't?

Often, just thinking about what our life will look like in 1 year, 5 years and 10 years is enough to motivate us to continue towards our goals.

Do you want to regret your choices? Where do you want to be proud of it?

9. Appreciate how far you've come

So take a break to reflect on your accomplishments. Even though you may not have reached your goal, you have still come a long way!

Enjoy your way, you are great! Instead of always striving towards your goal, take the time to practice a little gratitude towards your current location: you are exactly where you need to be.

Give yourself the credit you deserve OFTEN. It will help with your motivation!

10. Modify your consumption

It may sound silly, but what you consume has a big influence on your state of mind and your motivation. I'm not just talking about food here, but also about music, TV, social media…etc.

If you are in a bad place and you find it difficult to motivate yourself, try to integrate new consumption into your daily life. Maybe you watch things that are a bit intense for your morale. Adding lighter, relaxing or motivating drinks will help you regain your morale!

11. Get moving

Take small moments to move your body. No need to run a marathon, a little stretch of 20 min can make a huge difference.

It changes the evil of place and moreover it is good for your health. Nothing is more demotivating than sitting all day doing nothing!

12. Don't Worry About Small Problems

Small problems are just small problems. I know it's easier said than done, but try not to get too worked up about the little daily inconveniences.

They go by so fast anyway! There are greater things to use your energy on than putting your attention on the little negatives around you. By not paying too much attention to small problems, you will have unwavering motivation.
